From arrest to release

  1. 1

    Arrest and booking

After an arrest, the person is taken to jail and booked. Booking records their information, the charge, fingerprints, and a photo.

  2. 2

    Bail is set

A magistrate reviews the charge and sets the bail amount. The magistrate can also add conditions to the bond.

  3. 3

    The bond is posted

You can pay the full bail amount to the jail in cash, or use a bail bond. With a bail bond, you pay us a fee and we guarantee the full amount to the court.

  4. 4

    Release

Once the bond is posted, the jail processes the release. This can take a few hours depending on the jail.

What to have ready

This helps us move fast. Call even if you do not have all of it. We start with what you know.

  • The person's full legal name
  • Their date of birth
  • Where they are being held
  • The booking number, if you have it
  • The charge and bail amount, if you know them

Bail questions

Is the bail bond fee refunded after the case ends?

No. The fee pays for the bond itself, so it is not returned. Cash bail paid in full to the jail can be returned when the case ends, minus any court costs.

What does a cosigner do?

A cosigner signs the bond paperwork with us and agrees to help make sure the person goes to every court date. If the person skips court, the cosigner can be responsible for the full bail amount.

What happens after release?

The person must go to every court date and follow every bond condition. Keep us updated if a phone number or address changes.

What if the person misses a court date?

The court can forfeit the bond and issue a new warrant. Call us right away. The sooner we know, the more options there are.
